Massage therapy is the assessment and treatment of soft tissues (such as muscles, connective tissue, ligaments and tendons) and joints of the body. Massage therapy is a regulated health profession in the province of Ontario that requires an advance diploma in massage therapy from an approved college and certification from the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
Massage therapy can enhance your overall wellbeing and provide pain relief from acute and chronic pain. Some of the many benefits of massage therapy include:
Reduced stress
Decrease pain
Increase relaxation
Improve sleep
What to expect from your treatment session?
During your initial appointment, you will be asked to fill out a confidential health history form to ensure the therapist has a complete understanding of your health in order to provide a safe treatment. Depending on the goal of treatment, an individualized assessment will be performed to understand your concerns and to develop a treatment plan. Once the treatment plan is discussed and consent is given, the treatment session will proceed. Please note that you may accept or change your treatment plan at any point in time.
** It is highly recommended that an initial treatment session be a minimum of 45 minutes.
